Lately, I’ve found myself saving the same kinds of rooms over and over again. Looking back, they all have one thing in common they feel organic, modern, and full of personality. The spaces are warm and inviting, but still clean and timeless. It’s a style that feels effortless, collected, and lived in, and it’s exactly the direction I want to take our home.

The biggest thing I’ve been drawn to lately is oversized abstract artwork. There’s something about an obnoxiously large painting that completely transforms a room. It instantly becomes the focal point, adds movement and color, and makes the entire space feel curated instead of overly decorated. One of my favorite artists is Holly Addi Terry. Her paintings are playful, full of texture, and make such a beautiful statement. Even if an original isn’t in the budget, I love using her work as inspiration for the look I’m after.

I’ve also completely fallen in love with blue sofas. Whether it’s a soft baby blue, a washed denim, or a muted slate blue, I think they’re one of the most beautiful ways to bring color into a home. Blue feels calming and relaxed, almost giving a space a subtle coastal feel without looking beachy. My Benjamin ficus absolutely loves our east-facing window with lots of bright morning light, and it’s become one of my favorite pieces in our home.

And then there’s the rug. I truly think a rug can make or break a room. I almost always gravitate toward neutrals because they allow everything else to shine. Whether it’s a creamy beige, a warm oatmeal, or a rich earthy brown, a neutral rug grounds the room without competing with the furniture or artwork. If you love texture or subtle patterns, don’t be afraid to incorporate them just keep them from being too busy. Personally, I don’t want my eyes to fall to the floor when I walk into a room. I’d much rather they be drawn to the oversized artwork, the beautiful sofa, or the warm wood tones that make the space feel inviting.

When possible, I also love choosing wool rugs. I love the natural texture they bring to a room, and they’re so much nicer underfoot. They have a warmth and softness that I always notice. If your budget allows, I think they’re a worthwhile investment.
That said, I know we all have different budgets, and I genuinely believe you can create this look without spending a fortune. If I were going to splurge on one thing, it would probably be the sofa. It’s one of the most used pieces in your home, and I think it’s worth investing in a style and fabric you truly love. Everything else can be collected over time, creating a home that feels personal, curated, and uniquely yours.
